Or beg for forgiveness and express how sorry he is when he realizes joining the Lich King would be a much better outcome for him. He would probably at least live one expansion longer than he did.

He may of got bugged out of a quest you can get. That's the only time i've seen him there, was in the quest. Look in youtube for the quest.

And also, Arthas wasn't merged with The Lich king yet so he wasn't as strong and Illidan was at full strength but Arthas still kicked his ass

He's there because of a quest chain involving Arthas Menethil as a child, in which you are looking for the last remnants of his humanity and the reason why the scourge has not gone global for a while. So yeah he is supposed to be there, but in a phased event, but seeing how phased doesn't really work as intended on private realms this is what you get:P

its from a quest you play as arthas during it and have to re act what happened in the past the Illidan part is final part
